Nuclear Weapons News
The Ozark's local news source on Nuclear Weapons
Recently on Defense News, there was an article about the look towards modernizing the U.S. nuclear arsenal in the next ten years. Some of these upgrades include: the replacement of the Navy's Ohio-class nuclear submarine; the B-21, an Air Force bomber capable of both conventional and nuclear strike; the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent, a replacement for the ICBM (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile) Minuteman III; and the Long Range Standoff weapon, a nuclear cruise missile. The Congressional Budget Office placed these upgrades onto the defense budget for the next ten years. These upgrades are costly though, taking up roughly 6% of the defense budget because these weapons are just beginning to leave the testing phase and will begin their production phase. All in all, there seems to be many new things to look forward to seeing in the coming years for the United States' nuclear arsenal.
